Derek is a chartered civil engineer with over 10 years experience in civil/structural engineering and project management. Recently, Derek’s focus has moved to the use of information technology at Mott MacDonald. His team has a wide remit to address the use of project-based technology, such as processes for CAD and BIM, across a global consultancy. Derek’s projects have included development and management of structural analysis, GIS and database software for civil engineering infrastructure and, as a member of Mott MacDonald’s CAD Working Group, he advises in-house teams on the application of company CAD standards.

Paul joined the Revit Corp shortly after its European debut at release 2, following eleven years in Architecture and Structural Engineering. Continuing through the move to the Autodesk payroll, Paul developed a reputation across Europe, the Middle East and Africa as the Revit evangelist.
Now working as an independent BIM consultant, Paul is at the forefront of the move to BIM and acts as advisor to some of the largest design and construction companies in the world. Under the rather shy pseudonym Revit Guru, Paul is a popular trainer and speaker across the world as well as a magazine columnist for such publications as AEC magazine and Autodesk’s own Experience Building.
